Today, I want to take you on a journey. Not just mine, but maybe yours too—a journey through uncertainty, through surrender, through unexpected blessings disguised as obstacles. A journey of detours that, in the end, were divine.

🌱 When Life Doesn’t Go as Planned

Back in 2016, life felt aligned. I was working full-time as a school counselor. My husband held a leadership position in our local school district. We had just moved to a new community, planted roots, made friends, and bought our dream home. And as fate would have it, we were also expecting our fourth child.

Everything felt… steady.

Then, came the first ultrasound. The kind of appointment that forever splits time into “before” and “after.” We were told our baby had a heart defect—and eventually, we learned there was also a high likelihood of Down syndrome.

I remember the swirl of emotion—fear, hope, love, uncertainty. Our world tilted.

💔 The Redirection We Didn’t Expect

Because of the diagnosis, I had to change doctors and begin high-risk care in a new city. We were no longer just preparing a nursery—we were preparing for open-heart surgery and unknowns we couldn’t yet name.

We shifted everything.

I took an extended leave from my job to become a full-time caregiver. My husband and I looked at each other across our new mortgage and mounting medical concerns, wondering how we would make it all work.

That’s when we started to listen… not just with our ears, but with our hearts.

💡 A Business Born from the Basement

My husband had always been passionate about sports cards. It was more than a hobby—it was his heartbeat. So, in the quiet moments after the kids were asleep, he began buying and selling card cases online.

What started in the basement—one card, one sale, one connection at a time—grew. And it grew fast.

Soon, he was building a business. A community. A purpose.

That business became Real Sports Cards, now a thriving full-time family venture that supports us in ways we could have never planned for—but were divinely led to.

🌸 What If the Detour Is the Path?

Looking back now, that terrifying diagnosis, that sudden life shift, the uncertainty and struggle—they were all part of a greater unfolding.
